Book Title: Gangster School 2: The Brotherhood of Brimstone

Author: Kate Wiseman

Illustrator: Isla Bousfield-Donohoe

Publisher: ZunTold

Publication Date: September 2018

Most Suitable For: KS2

There is no other school quite like Blaggard's, the boarding school where pupils learn how to become villains. This is a school where pupils take lessons in thievery, fabrication and stealth as they desperately attempt to become less ‘dependable’ and make their felonious families proud by proving they have what it takes to succeed in the world of crime.

Fans of the first book (see our review here) will be happy to see the return of Milly and Charlie, two pupils of Blaggard's who attempt to navigate their way through the topsy-turvy world of learning how to become hardened criminals. In the second instalment of this entertaining series, new adventures await Milly and Charlie as they encounter the evil Brotherhood of Brimstone; an ancient secret society that appears to be holding meetings in the grounds of Blaggard's.

However, that’s not the only danger facing the pupils of Blaggards. At the same time, a priceless diamond has gone missing and its fate is interconnected with the fate of the whole school. Not to mention the impending school inspection led by a mysterious Dr X, who could turn up unannounced at any time (any teachers who have been through an OFSTED inspection may find this part amusingly familiar).

In this race-against-time adventure, Milly and Charlie must use all their resources to overthrow the evil Brotherhood of Brimstone, find the diamond in time and save the school from total destruction.

With a roller-coaster plot, an unfolding mystery and a dramatic climax, readers will feel like the biggest crime is to put the book down before the end!
