Author Blog: Emma Perry / Colin the Bear’s Top Five Books About… Bears!

We are pleased to host a guest post today from Emma Perry, whose new book This Book Has Alpacas and Bears is available now. In the book, Alfonso the Alpaca notices how many, many books there are about bears. Wondering why there are not so many books about alpacas, Alfonso sets about to enlist his friend Colin the Bear to help alpacas get the recognition they deserve.

In this post, Emma shares Colin the Bear’s top five books all about bears.

Colin the Bear’s Top Five Books About… Bears!

Colin the Bear does love climbing into bed, snuggling under the duvet and delving into a lovely book. As long as he doesn’t get interrupted by a certain alpaca, just as he gets to the best bits.

Let’s take a peek at Colin’s Top Five Books About Bears…

I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen – available here

Colin is full of admiration for the determination this bear shows, and now Rikin Parekh and I are crossing everything that Alfonso will never believe that pinching Colin’s glasses / hat is a good idea.

The Bumblebear by Nadia Shireen – available here

Firstly, Colin fully approves of this bear’s name – Norman. Perfect. Colin is also impressed with Norman’s determination to find honey. Yum! Though he’s not sure he fancies going to Bee School himself.

Bear Has A Story To Tell by Philip C. Stead and Erin E. Stead – available here

‘It was almost winter and Bear was getting sleepy.’

Before bear goes to sleep for the winter, he really, really, wants to tell his friends his story. As he visits each one in turn, he finds them busy with their own winter preparations, and being the kind bear he is … he gives each one a helping hand. Colin adores the kind, gentle bear in this story and would very much like to be this bear when he grows up.

There’s A Bear on My Chair by Ross Collins – available here

It’s not only the creator’s name that attracted Colin to this one. Colin feels a certain affinity with the bear in this book, and fully admires his patience throughout!

This Book Has Alpacas and Bears by Emma Perry and Rikin Parekh – available here

Of course, Colin had to sneak in this one. Not only does it show off his best side, it features the BEST alpaca – his incredibly determined friend, Alfonso.
