Mini Rabbit Not Lost – published by HarperCollins – is the first in a spectacular new three-part picture book series by debut author and illustrator, John Bond.
The story begins with Mini Rabbit and his mother baking a cake and soon realising they have run out of berries. Despite mother trying to tell her adventurous son something important, Mini Rabbit speeds off on the hunt for the vital ingredient. Over hills, through forests and across water he goes, meeting characters offering help.
Soon, Mini Rabbit finds himself lost with only his sense of smell to help…Will he find his way home and more importantly will he find those pesky berries?
The story is wonderfully repetitive for younger children with a stylish and endearing feel all the way through, especially as Mini Rabbit chants the mantra ‘cake’ throughout his mission. Yet, it is the wholly striking illustrations that really sets this book apart. From the exquisite debossed front cover to the simply stylish character of Mini Rabbit and watercolour landscapes, this book has quality stamped all over it.
