What is Vooks?

Vooks is a streaming service providing animated story books for children. The platform is unlike other streaming services, being the first streaming platform dedicated to offering a video library of animated storybooks. Each storybook in the online library has been animated, bringing stories familiar and new alive with movement, music and a read-aloud, without straying from the original text or illustrations. The words of the story remain in place on each page, so that children can read along too. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have access to the entire library of animated storybooks.

What’s available for parents?

Vooks is designed with young children’s screen time in mind. There are no ad breaks or unwanted adult content, making it safe for children to browse and explore its growing bank of stories. There are also PDF teacher guides to some of the titles.

Vooks is offering one free month subscription to all parents worldwide. A a parent myself, I’m always on the lookout for resources for my children ar home. We have been enjoying some familiar favourites like Tony Ross’s Little Princess stories and also discovering new stores too, especially as it is a US site. Vooks makes it easy to access books on any device, with a read-along format and pages that come to life with animation.

A new feature is that the Vooks team have created home-learning lesson plans for parents to follow along with the videos, built to provide children with 20 minutes a day of read-aloud time and activities. Each parent pack has guides and activities – at home we enjoyed Courageous People Who Changed the World and 100 First Words For Little Artists.

The free one-month subscription offer gives you time to try the videos out at home and is perfectly timed for the summer holidays.
