Book Title: Bad Nana: That’s Snow Business (available here)

Author/Illustrator: Sophy Henn

Publisher: Harper Collins

Publication Date: October 2019

Most Suitable For: Lower KS2

Jeanie is seven years old and totally adores her Nana and her fluffy, pink cat, Liberace. The thing is, Nana is fun-loving and causes much mischief, earning her the nickname Bad Nana!

In this book, the third in the Bad Nana series, we see Jeanie and her friends being coached by Bad Nana to dance at the Winter Wonderland Variety Show. However, things don’t quite go to plan and Jeanie and friends are forced to interject when the Show’s future is jeopardized by a blizzard, not to mention the antics of Bad Nana and her old showbiz pal Bobby Truelove. Will the show go ahead?

This is a story of friendship, resilience and the importance of teamwork. I would recommend this series for lower key stage 2 children due to the themes, colourful pages and being able to relate to the witty main character. The text layout is attractive to the young reader and the brightly-colored, eye-catching illustrations are highly appealing. Each chapter of the story reads like young Jeanie’s diary, which gives the book a personable quality.

This series also features on:

– First Chapter Books

– Lollies 2020 Shortlist

– 2019 Christmas Gift Gide (Ages 7-9)
