This hilarious new picture book from the award-winning children's author Morag Hood (well known for The Steves and I Am Bat, Brenda Is A Sheep) is to be highly recommended for children who love stories flavoured with tongue-in-cheek humour and a bit of a silly scenario.

Duck is in quite a flap. He is searching for his spaghetti and it is not going well. A self-assured tiny horse shows up to save the day - uninvited but not unwelcomed - and dives head first into the quest, confidently declaring that she is the greatest spaghetti hunter there has ever been. The spaghetti hunt begins, although it is a bit different from how Duck imagines and it results in Duck retreating to the sanctuary of his teapot with a good book to read instead.

It's yet to be decided whether what follows is a stroke of genius or luck on Duck's behalf, but before we know it, Duck has found a pasta recipe and out comes a bowl, spoons, flour, eggs and a pasta machine, as Duck takes matters into his own hands (or wings). All that's left now is the question for where to find sauce...

Morag Hood's trademark comedy style makes this picture book likely to be another hit with her growing fan base of young children and adults alike, showcasing harmless humour and a snowballing measure of silliness that masterfully descends - somehow - into being utterly ridiculous and making perfect sense at the same time. The characters are full of warmth and wit, the humour pitch is spot-on and the bold and comical illustrations are a joy, making this a lovely book for adults and children to delight in together and one that could easily lead to home cooking or conversations about where food comes from.

If you are looking for something new that's a bit different and certain to raise a smile, this is a top choice for an enjoyable storytime.
