This book does exactly what it says on the tin and is an incredible book from start to finish.
Christopher Lloyd introduces his book by stating his mission to find a ‘simple guide to the history of everything’ in order to quench his thirst for knowledge. Unluckily for him, after searching high and low, he couldn’t find it. Luckily for us, he decided to do something about it!
Set out in an easy-to-read manner which launches with ‘The beginning of the universe, life and everything’, and ends with ‘1945 – present day’, this book not only explores significant inventions, battles, places and people but divides the sections into manageable chapters - each with its own timeline and fantastic visual imagery that genuinely will appeal to adults and children alike.
As a teacher, I have purchased many non-fictions books to help the children understand the vast history of this planet but, in my opinion, this surpasses them all. The fresh crisp look, the simple yet still detailed information and the way you can pick up, put down and come back at any point, makes this book invaluable.
It even invites the reader to send ideas about what could be in the next book potentially named Absolutely Everything Else! What more could you ask for?
