Giveaway: The Grinch Movie Books

This Christmas has brought to the big screen a new Grinch movie, staring Benedict Cumberbatch as the famous green grump who loved to hate Christmas. To tie in with the new film, Harper Collins has released a new novelisation of the movie, which features the familiar Grinch character in a freshly imagined version of the classic story, including a handful of new characters and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The novel, adapted by David Lewman, is a fast-paced, fun-to-read chapter book that is perfect for readers in the 7-10 age bracket.

The Grinch lives in a cave just outside the town of Who-ville , along with his canine companion, Max. Preferring a solitary life, the Grinch keeps away from the town people as much as he can, especially at Christmas time when the festivities and high spirits are too much to bear.

This year the townspeople seem determined to make Christmas the best one ever, and the Grinch decides there is only one way to put their cheerful jovialities to an end once and for all; he must steal Christmas. Posing as Father Christmas, his plan involves going down chimneys and taking away Christmas presents from all the houses. Little does he expect that one young girl’s ‘Santa trap’ may just cause his plans to be turned on their head….

Whether or not you have seen the film, this is an enjoyable read that can be easily consumed in just two or three sittings.
