Isadora Moon: From Screen to Shelf for Early Reading Confidence
Ten Years of Isadora Moon!
Here at BooksForTopics, 2026 is a very special milestone as we celebrate our 10th anniversary of supporting primary schools with expert, teacher-tested booklist curation – an anniversary that coincides with the National Year of Reading. Coincidentally, another big favourite of ours is celebrating its 10th birthday this year too: Harriet Muncaster’s iconic Isadora Moon series!
Since the very beginning, everyone’s favourite half-vampire, half-fairy has been a staple in primary classrooms and school libraries. The Isadora Moon series has achieved phenomenal global success, selling over 7 million copies and being translated into more than 43 languages worldwide.
It holds a special place on our site, featuring regularly across our Y1 recommended reading list, earning a top spot on our Early Chapter Books list, and even inspiring its own dedicated Branching Out List for readers ready to explore similar series.
Members of our Review Panel have described the books as being “responsible for turning many young children into independent readers” with a “high appeal to modern young readers.”
Over the past decade, so many of our community’s early readers have loved taking part in interactive extras, from Isadora Moon Day parties and dress-up opportunities to creative writing packs that bring her magical world to life in the classroom.
Page and Screen
Since 2022, Isadora has also been delighting fans on screen. The hit Isadora Moon animated series on Sky Kids and NOW has introduced a whole new audience of four- to seven-year-olds to the lovable half-vampire, half fairy Isadora as well as Pink Rabbit, Wilbur and the rest of the Moon family.
This year, Oxford Children’s has launched a brand-new range of official TV tie-in books. Featuring the artwork and character designs from the animated show, this TV tie-in Isadora Moon collection includes accessible picturebooks, activity books and now brand new early readers too.
For teachers, librarians and parents, these books offer a bridge between screen and page, inviting young children who love the character they have seen in the series into the world of reading.

Picturebooks for Shared Reading
For children who already love watching the Isadora Moon show on Sky Kids, the TV tie-in picture books offer a happy sense of familiarity.
The large-format artwork, short narratives and approachable story lines make them ideal for EYFS and Key Stage 1 shared reading, helping children build visual literacy and vocabulary without feeling overwhelmed by long blocks of text.
Children who start with these picture books are likely to go on to read the early readers and original chapter books later.
