Order Bring a Book to Life boxes here
Last week we were gifted a couple of children’s book box from a subscription box company called ‘Bring a Book to Life‘ – and it was such a delight to receive that we want to shout about it from the rooftops!
Every month, Bring a Book to Life produces a new reading for pleasure book box for a variety of different groups, from ‘little readers’ and ‘family boxes’ to ‘reluctant readers’ and ‘confident readers’. There area also seasonal specials – like the Christmas themed box we received. Each box contains the chosen book of the month for its age group and a selection of additional gifts that match the text. All of the goodies are in some way connected to the story – and part of the fun is reading the story to find out the links! The boxes also contain signed postcards and author letters.
Box themes change each month and previous themes have included the sea, magic, tigers and dragons.
The boxes we received were the ‘Confident Reader’ box featuring a signed copy of Onjali Q Rauf’s The Lion at the Door (the cuddly lion was a particular hit with our mini bookworm) and the ‘Independent Reader’ Christmas box, featuring Kieran Crowley’s The Santa List.
This is the kind of gift that is an absolute dream for booklovers – but also one that is likely to hook in reluctant readers too, through the excitement and intrigue of the thoughtfully linked gifts and the carefully chosen quality texts.
Founder Kate Andrews, from a primary teaching background, explains “My children can read. But they didn’t always LOVE reading. As a primary school teacher of 15 years I decided to try and find a tangible way in which to engage my children in books. This came about by providing small trinkets and facts to compliment books that we were reading together. I realised that this method captivated their interest and immersed them more deeply in the stories. As they got older and were reading independently I carried this idea forward by leaving small items on their beds that were linked with the themes their books were offering. Having recently left education it occurred to me that other families may enjoy this concept too and so my business, ‘Bring A Book To Life’ was born.”
Another great feature of these boxes is that you do not have to subscribe to every month – you can also purchase on a pay-as-you-go basis, which gives smaller budgets the option of choosing the most appealing themes as occasional gifts or dipping into the other age groups sometimes too. There are also options for school packages.
The enjoyment of this month’s box is likely to last a while in our house – as the toys and gifts will no doubt remind the children of the story and the well-chosen book may well be re-read over time. I’d highly recommend these lovely book boxes and I’m sure I’ll be back to buy gifts from this company in the future.
