This week sees the publication of Rabbit Bright by Viola Wang (available here). In this picture book, illustrated in stylish neon tones, Rabbit Bright goes boldly into the night, turning nightmares to colourful dreams. When night falls, Rabbit Bright sets out to explore the darkness but soon discovers that there’s light be found all around for those who know where to look. It’s a story about overcoming fears of darkness and finding joy and positivity in uncertain times, with a reassurance that there will always be light for those who seek it.
To celebrate the publication of the book, we are excited to share with our followers a newly adapted Rabbit Bright story eBook today, all about adapting behaviour during the pandemic. Little ones will find their own experiences reflected in the story and it’s likely to open conversations with children as they process the phase they have recently been through – or for some children are still going through.
Author-illustrator Viola Wang says, “Some of my friends have told me that it is hard to explain to children what they have to do during this pandemic situation. It is a difficult time for all of us. So I have created this little short story, and hope it will help some parents and children. Please share it with your friends or anyone who may like it! I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.”
Scroll through to follow the story and then continue below to find a free, printable Rabbit Bright activity for children.
Children can create their own Rabbit Bright house by downloading the activity sheet and following the online instructions, created by author-illustrator Viola Wang.
