Book Synopsis

Snuggle up with your little star and enjoy reading this picture book together, filled with nature’s delights.

You are Younger than a Star is a beautiful picture book about the natural world and our place within it for children aged 5-7.

Nature can teach us so much about ourselves, so turn the pages, explore the natural world and help your little one find their sense of place. A gentle, lyrical story takes little ones on a magical journey to explore who they are and how they compare to the world around them.

This magical picture book for children offers:
An entertaining narrative about the natural world that can be shared between parents/caregivers and children.
A decorative, metallic jacket, striking illustrations and uplifting, timeless message, making it an ideal gift and keepsake.
A variety of topics, including animals, plants, oceans and space, as well as concepts such as size and distance.

This picture book is full of fun facts, such as where to find the world’s highest mountain, how many beetles live on our planet and how old stars are compared to a child, that will be sure to satisfy your child’s natural curiosity.

Admire the huge blue whale as it moves through the vast ocean and cherish the trail of tiny bubbles that it leaves in its wake. Then visit the busy forest – find the silent sloth hanging motionless from a branch and follow the busy hummingbird as it flies between the trees. Turn the pages and explore each scene together. How does your little one compare to nature’s wonders? Are they bigger than a bubble and smaller than a whale? Are they as still as a sloth or as busy as a hummingbird?

Our Review Panel says...

This is a beautiful and gently empowering book for young children. Then book combines impressive facts about nature while positioning impressive facts about humans right in the centre. Without overcomplicating anything, it tells children, for example, facts about an ocean scene where a huge blue whale leaves a trail of tiny bubbles behind, and let’s readers wonder at the fact that they are bigger than a bubble and smaller than a whale – but just as awe-inducing as both.

The illustrations bring each page to life and the additional facts are subtle on the page and give extra information about the mentioned items. The book shows how comparisons can be a good thing and how truly unique we are.
