Ollie is feeling nervous about starting school the next morning. She has packed her bear rucksack and played schools to prepare herself.

However, as she gets into bed she is still feeling nervous and her head is full of thoughts – What would her new teacher be like? What would she do at school? Suddenly, her dreams are interrupted by a loud owl hooting. Ollie gets up, grabs her rucksack and heads out of her house after the owl, following her into the woods along with other woodland creatures. She discovers a little bear waiting outside the woodland school and encourages him in. Soon they are no longer feeling nervous but having the best day with Mrs Owl – their teacher. Will this help Ollie with her upcoming first day at school?

This story has beautiful illustrations that all use the colours blue, grey and yellow. There are specks of gold foil on every page that add a sparkle and a bit of magic to the pictures and help bring the story alive. There are also some paper cutouts on certain pages that allow you to peek through to the next page which again, adds something interactive to the story and a layer of beauty to the layout.

I really believe that it would help a small child feel better and overcome some of the anxiety that they may feel when starting school or returning to school after a long break.
