Book Synopsis

Murder and mayhem disrupt a family Christmas by the sea – a perfect thriller to keep you gripped this festive season!

George and his family are celebrating Christmas by the sea. But when a body washes up on the beach, George can’t stop thinking about the strange lights he saw on the cliff top… Neither can his cousin, Isla. Together, they follow the clues, and as they draw nearer to the truth, they step further into danger. On land, or at sea, someone is desperate to stop them, whatever it takes. And that someone may be closer to home than they realise…

Our Review Panel says...

A strange Christmas spent away from home in the middle of nowhere, with extended family that he does not like is not a Christmas that George is looking forward to. At least he should be able to spend some one-on-one time with Dad and his Uncle Edwin before his new baby brother or sister arrives. Strange occurrences start as soon as George and his dad leave for the South coast; a car crash, lights on the cliff side and then a body found washed up on the shore. George and his cousin soon find themselves mixed up in something much bigger than they realise. What was someone on the cliffside that night? Why do the people in the car crash keep popping up? And why do people keep dying?

I love an adult crime book and found myself instantly engrossed in this book. The story was sophisticated in its design but easy to read and comprehend. The author built the plot line up and dropped little clues throughout to help the reader try and figure out what was really going on. I found myself reading on and one to try and get to the end as I wanted to know who the murdered was. Once completed, I was let shocked and wanting to read more of her crime-based stories.

A great read that I would recommend to upper key stage two.
