Book Synopsis

Have you ever wondered what’s going on inside nests, dens, hives, burrows and other animal homes? Deep underground, high up in the mountains and way down at the bottom of the sea, animals make extraordinary homes in surprising places and in ingenious ways. Use the magic lens to look inside these clever constructions and discover all the amazing ways animals make themselves at home in their habitat. Take a tour inside termite mounds and squirrel dreys, bat tents and bee hives, bear dens and tarantula burrows. Explore a whole world of Marvellous Animal Homes!

Our Review Panel says...

This is a super-cool non-fiction choice that follows on from Marvellous Machines, continuing the STEM themes but this time giving the spotlight to animal habitats and ecosystems. The book uses a magic lens magnifier to show what’s happening inside different animal homes, making reading it an interactive experience. By using the red filter lens tool, children can peer into hidden spaces like termite mounds, tailorbird nests and gorilla beds. The illustrations are detailed and searching around with the lens gives the feel of being a nature explorer.

The layout is great for the classroom, with short bursts of information that suit younger readers perfectly. It is a brilliant resource for a habitats or animals topic, or just a fun and interactive pleasure read that will fly off the class shelves.
