Barry Timms uses effective dialogue and actions to convey the varying emotions and these are perfectly brought to life by Sean Julian’s illustrations of the two characters. The tale explores a character apologising without meaning it and the ramifications on both characters’ emotions because of this. The final resolution allows for both characters to evolve and this would be an excellent text to use with children to explore this issue.
This story is ideal for teaching younger children the importance of friendship and the meaning and importance of a heart-felt apology…
