Book Synopsis

A group of young, street-smart kids with a dark secret – the ability to transform into powerful animals – must navigate a dangerous world where their extraordinary abilities are both a blessing and a curse.

As they unravel the mysteries of their past and how they came to be shapeshifters, they’ll face life-threatening challenges, betrayals, and an organisation that seeks to harness their power for evil.

Can they master their inner beasts and keep their secret safe?

Our Review Panel says...

Waking up in a wood one night, with know memory of who they were or the lives they had lived before, Ember, Blue and Caine know only to run. A year on, the three strangers have become family to one another, living on the streets using their wits and ingenuity to survive, with a secret that they share – they can Flip into animals.

As if life isn’t hard enough, the park where they live is subject to a 9pm night curfew due to a gigantic dark creature that the press have called “The Night Terror.” The kids don’t believe in the creature, until they are confronted by the huge beast and need to run for their lives…

For all those children (and adults) who have thought about what animal they would be if they could be anything, for the love of fantasy novels, crime thrillers and sci-fi, the latest novel from acclaimed author J.J.Arcanjo (of Crookhaven fame) is guaranteed to be a big hit to a broad range of readers.

Great as a source for prediction, a rich text for grammar, an opener for discussion on trust and relationships in PSHE or simply an enjoyable whole class read or addition to the class bookshelf, this book will be in hot demand in UKS2/KS3  as the plot twists and turns until the end.
