About Time

About Time is a fascinating book about the history and science of time. The book covers lots of different ways of thinking about time, including how animals and plants react to the passing of time. It also looks at the way in which time is divided into hours, days, weeks etc. and how units of time have been divided differently by different civilisations. There is a section on how to tell the time without using a clock e.g. using the phases of the moon or the position of the sun in the sky.

Scattered throughout the book are instructions for how to make various instruments for telling the time such as a sundial and a sand timer. The colourful illustrations by Lucy Rose will really help children to understand the concepts included in the book.

So much interesting information is covered in this gem of a book, from how watches and clocks are made to time zones on earth and on other planets. This is a lovely addition to any Y6 classroom!
