Flora and Fern are two little bunny friends who live in Holly Wood. As the festive season begins, they start to plan their party and are very excited about it. They make their invites and invite all of their woodland neighbours. The day of the festive party arrives and the bunnies go out into the wood to collect everything they need for their guests and to have the best festive gathering. They work together to collect mistletoe and the other items on their list. As they travel around Holly Wood, they visit their friends who also contribute to the party: Baz the Badger bakes some biscuits and some pigeons help them collect berries. Finally, they come across a tempting blackberry bush but Fern warns Flora to leave it alone due to Herbie the hedgehog hibernating under the brambles. With them being the only blackberries in the wood, she decides to take them, waking Herbie and dropping all of their supplies. Will the festive party still go ahead without any food for the guests? This story is a lovely and simple festive story with hidden messages about the importance of teamwork and unlikely heroes. The illustrations are lovely and at the front of the book is a map of Holly Wood so the reader can immerse themselves into the festive world. The story is easy to follow along by even the youngest readers. At the back of the book is a recipe for Festive Ginger biscuits that you could bake for your very own festive party.
