Nathan Reed Books

This is such a fun story that will have children letting their imagination fly and remembering to punctuate their sentences correctly!

Frank is a full stop who never exclaims or questions and likes sentences and stories to come to a succinct end. So when a dragon appears and refuses to let the story end, Frank is not pleased and decides to leave. Cue chaos, carnage, food fights, fire and lots of exclamation marks and ellipsis! When Frank saves the day and swiftly ends the story, Dee the Dragon definitely learns the importance of a full stop, but Frank also learns that sometimes it can be fun to let creativity and imagination loose too.

This book is such a great concept and shows punctuation in such a fun way.

A hilarious book about the importance of ALWAYS covering your nose when you sneeze . . . and what happens if you don’t!

You probably know it’s good manners to ALWAYS cover your nose when you sneeze. But when Sid forgets this very simple rule, the consequences are WILDER than he could ever have predicted.

Get ready for a laugh-out-loud, sneeze-driven joyride, featuring elephants, pirates, acrobats, giants, princesses and a whole lot of pandas. Sneezing will never be the same again!

This joyfully anarchic, side-splittingly funny story is perfect for fans of You Can’t Take an Elephant on the Bus and There’s a Shark in the Bath.

From the bestselling, award-winning author of YOU MUST BRING A HAT (Sainsbury’s Children’s Book of the Year 2016) and I REALLY WANT THE CAKE (shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2018), and the illustrator of THINK BIG and INCREDIBLE YOU

Poor Bill! Follow his impolite mishaps through outer space, jungles, and far-off lands. Written in rhyming verse, this book is a fun-filled adventure with a moral about being polite and respecting others. Children will love the imaginative and colourful illustrations throughout.
This is an engaging story book, perfect for story time with KS1!

The enormously fun Sam Wu series is back with the third instalment, Sam Wu is NOT Afraid of the Dark

This time, the invitation to go camping in the woods with Sam’s best friend Bernard brings a brand new challenge to definitely-not-scared Sam. Trying not to think too much about the darkness, the monsters, the aliens and the bears, Sam ends up heading reluctantly into the woods accompanied by his cousin Stanley and Bernard’s family.  If there is one person who is able to make any situation ten times worse for Sam, it’s classmate Ralph Philip Zinkerman the Third. As (bad) luck would have it, Ralph and his family just happen to pitch up at the same camping spot with their impressively-shaped tents (Ralph’s tent looks like an actual space rocket). The only bonus is that Ralph’s twin sister Regina and her friend Zoe, who are part of Sam’s friendship group, are there too (in Regina’s super-expensive castle shaped tent), and Sam knows that strength in numbers will definitely be a good thing in the face of werewolves or UFOs. Now all that is left is to face the prospect of surviving the night in the dark, dark woods…

With scary noises, strange lights, spooky shadows and the incredibly dark patch of no-man’s land (not to mention the fact that the grown-ups seem completely disinterested in taking the children seriously about all the scary stuff that might be out there), Sam and his friends are left to fend for themselves as night approaches. Can Sam overcome each frightening encounter in the dark and prove once more that he is definitely NOT afraid?

Filled with warmth and humour, these books will strike a chord with anyone who knows what it feels like to be a little more frightened than they’d like others to think. I also really enjoyed how much value Sam places on his friendships and the way that he is able to attempt to build bridges with Ralph at the end, despite their differences. The narrative’s brand of harmless humour is enhanced by the cool design features of its pages and Nathan Reed’s engaging illustrations that bring a strong a visual element to the book’s humorous tone, making it a brilliantly fun addition to lower KS2 classroom libraries.

The books in this series are popular, quick reads and do not necessarily have to be read in sequence to make sense.

A hilarious tale of wish fulfilment gone wrong that every child will relate to Tom can’t wait for his lucky birthday. It’s an EPIC family tradition and he’s dreamed up an unfortgettable party! Only, after several disasters involving a flattened chihuahua and a curse from the tooth fairy, it’s been cancelled! But Tom won’t give up. With the help of his friends (and a pig painted like a zebra), Tom decides to throw himself the party he deserves. What could possibly go wrong?

Perfect for fans of Pamela Butchart and David Solomons, this is a new hilarious adventure from the creative team behind the bestselling I Swapped My Brother On The Internet.

Keith has entered the Junior Mega Brain quiz and he’s determined to win. The problem is – he’s not really a genius. Even worse, his sister Minerva actually is, and Keith will have to go head to head against her.

Keith needs to get super smart and fast! Could he just steal Min’s brain? Or will some awesome inventions, sneezing rabbits and fearsome flapjacks be the genius way to victory?

Filled with warmth and humour, Sam’s chatty narrative is really the star of these books and is what makes the stories so relatable. This book will strike a chord with anyone who knows what it feels like to be more frightened then they want to admit (which, let’s face it, is most people). Coupled with Nathan Reed’s appealing cartoon-style illustrations that are perfectly placed to bring a visual element to the book’s humorous tone, this is a brilliantly fun book that would make a wonderful addition to Year 3 & 4 classrooms. I also really like the way in which Sam’s Chinese heritage is represented positively in this series without necessarily being central to the plot.

The brilliantly funny and first book in the SAM WU series, starring the bravest scaredy-cat in the world. Sam Wu is NOT a scaredy-cat (except he is). When a trip to the Space Museum goes terrifyingly wrong, Sam begins a mission to prove to the school bully, and all of his friends, that he is a fearless space adventurer.

A truly laugh-out-loud, voice-led and madcap story of ghost hunting, snakes and mischievous pet cats called Butterbutt.

A laugh-out-loud chapter book that will appeal to anyone who has ever wished they could upgrade their sibling for a better model. Johnny is fed up of being picked on by older brother Ted, so when he stumbles across a website called SiblingSwap.com, he turns to the internet to solve his problems. What follows is a hilarious series of not-quite-perfect alternative siblings. There is also an accompanying activity pack available to go with this book.
