Jonny Duddle Books

From the creator of ‘The Pirates Next Door’ comes a wonderful tale by Jonny Duddle. This version of the book, a special 10 year anniversary edition, includes bonus material to engage and entertain readers. With a natural rhyming flow to each page, speech bubbles and words presented in a way to draw the reader in, the story is a delight for young and old.

You don’t need to be a dinosaur fan to enjoy this book but if you are, the additional features at the end of the story are sure to delight. There are facts about the dinosaurs featured in the book, information about the real dinosaur that the Gigantosaurus was based on as well as a ‘how to draw dinosaurs’ guide.

This is a wonderful, fun book which also has a moral tale to tell with the bonus of detailed illustrations and facts about the dinosaurs.

The Jolley-Rogers – a pirate family, are moving to Dull-on-Sea, a quiet seaside town. Stopping to fix up their ship, this unusual family get the whole neighbourhood spreading rumours. Defying the grown-ups, Matilda from next door decides to become friends with the youngest pirate son. When the Jolley-Rogers leave, the town discovers they were wrong to assume the worst – the pirate clan have buried treasure in everyone’s gardens (shown in a stunning double-gatefold). Matilda feels sad until she discovers her own treasure – an incredibly exciting new pen friend.

When I’m asked to recommend pirate books for younger readers, I always cite talented author/illustrator Jonny Duddle and his Jolley-Rogers series. Filled with Jonny’s trademark humour in the story and art, this title had me at “scurvy”!
