Chloe Savage Books

A stunning book about wonder, bravery, and the freedom to pursue your curiosity from Chloe Savage, winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Illustration for The Search for the Giant Arctic Jellyfish.

Ever since Dr Rose was a little girl paddling in rock pools, she has always loved the sea and exploring the weird and wonderful creatures living there. Now, as a marine biologist, Dr Rose is in search of a sea creature rumoured to reside within its hidden depths; one that many speak of, but no one has ever seen – Carmella. With her team of scientists and explorers, she will descend to the unfathomable dark of the deep ocean in a slick submersible, to discover the incredible, and almost unbelievable, creatures that inhabit a nearly pitch-black world.

Join Chloe Savage – winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2024: Best Illustrated Book – on a journey across the cosmos with Commander Julia, her team of Astro scientists and her trusty dog, Khan, as they search for life in the stars. Travelling for ten years in their packed spaceship, they visit countless moons and planets of every size and colour, searching for the answer to the greatest question of all: “Are we alone?”

And, just as they’re about to give up … Khan leads them to an incredible discovery – the existence of a (friendly!) alien race. Getting to know this welcoming species calls into question everything these space explorers have ever known – about what to do next, who they are, and what it means to have a home…

Sure to be a favourite for aspiring astronauts and will inspire a love of science, space exploration, and nurture curiosity in the solar system and our galaxy, and beyond. This book is filled with Chloe’s incredible trademark detail – space stations, spaceship cross-sections, and underground crystal caves.

The Artemis III mission aims to land astronauts on the moon in 2026 … and, after that, what’s next?

Part of the HIDDEN WONDERS series for children: award-winning, picture book adventures where science meets myth and magic, making STEM accessible to all children.

Seeing the elusive and never-before-seen Giant Arctic Jellyfish is Dr Morley’s life ambition. She adores jellyfish and has spent her life studying and researching the ultimate jellyfish: The Giant Arctic Jellyfish. Once her crew are assembled, they embark on their adventure to the cold Arctic on their boat to search the icy waters. They find a whole array of Arctic creatures in their polar habitat, including narwhals, polar bears, beluga whales and orcas.

They travel around the Arctic taking scientific samples and measurements, trying to find clues about the whereabouts of the jellyfish.

A moving adventure story which shows the importance of perseverance in finding, chasing and achieving one’s dreams. The book is beautifully illustrated and adds to the story and adventure. As you read along, you can spot the Giant Arctic jellyfish on most pages – Where’s Wally? style – which is engaging for younger readers and makes you urge on Dr Morley and her team.

The story is easy to read and follow, and some of the language is suitably challenging for children of different ages.
